Qiang Archers

When you hunt to live, silence becomes your ally, and your bow skills become… considerable.

The bow is a most elegant and versatile weapon, used for centuries beyond counting for survival; first, hunting and then, later, when man fought man, warfare. Those who continue to practice these old ways - such as the tribes of the Qiang - continue their daily practice and as such are now unparalleled archers.

This proficiency with the bow is what makes them desirable as irregular warriors in any army, as they can bring an asymmetrical element to forces otherwise mired by predictable formations and military styles.

Unit Abilities

  • Smoke Screen
    Thick plumes of smoke obscure line of sight, making units seem temporarily invisible.
  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

  • Role: rear line
    These troops are best placed at the rear of an army, where they can cause damage from a position of relative safety.
  • Weak against cavalry
    This unit is very vulnerable to cavalry charges, especially to the flanks.
