Crossbowmen
Soldiers armed with long-range crossbows powerful enough to pierce enemy armour and defences.It takes years of training and immense upper strength to be able to draw back the bowstring to the nocking point. Firing a crossbow needs the user to be taught only how to load a bolt and point it.
Unlike notching an arrow, however, a crossbow bolt can be loaded easily and held until the user is ready to fire.
Despite its ease of use, the draw-weight increases the bolt's speed and power when released, meaning that less-skilled troops can be armed but still prove deadly on the battlefield.
