Poachers

Patience, focus and resolve; the skills of the poacher are perfectly transferable to the needs of the battlefield.

The poacher knows the land intimately; years of hunting and tracking has given him an innate understanding of how to work with nature to seek, find and ultimately kill.

As such, these warriors can move where others cannot, and faster besides. They do not carry particularly good spears or bows, for their ability comes from surprising foes as they would a wild boar, dealing swift and shocking damage and sowing chaos amongst enemy ranks before a large engagement.

Unit Abilities

  • Smoke Screen
    Thick plumes of smoke obscure line of sight, making units seem temporarily invisible.
  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

    Can hide in forests.
  • IGNORE GROUND TYPE
    Speed penalties caused by the terrain are ignored by this unit.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Role: rear line
    These troops are best placed at the rear of an army, where they can cause damage from a position of relative safety.
  • Guerrilla deployment
    These units have the advantage of being able to deploy behind enemy lines to strike at unexpecting targets.
  • Paltry armour
    This unit is only armoured with light cloth, making it vulnerable when engaged.
