Yaoguai Hunters

The 'yaoguai' demons move unseen and strike with a lethality that is scarcely believable.

'Yaoguai' are said to be demons and spirits that, through Taoist practice, have gained form and magical powers, and seek immortality. 'Guai' - or 'demon' - are malevolent in their intent; difficult to see, yet powerful and dangerous.

The Yaoguai Hunters are so named because they are inspired by that same dark intent - to strike, unseen, wreaking havoc and destruction then fading back into the air.

Unit Abilities

  • Smoke Screen
    Thick plumes of smoke obscure line of sight, making units seem temporarily invisible.
  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

  • SCARE
    Reduces nearby enemy morale. Does not stack.


  • This unit can deploy outside the deployment zone.

  • HIDE IN FOREST
    Can hide in forests.
  • SNIPE
    Remains hidden while firing.
  • STALK
    Can move whilst hidden in any terrain.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Role: suppression
    These units harry the enemy, slowing them down through the use of advanced tactics and weaponry.
  • Poisoned weapons
    The weapons of this unit are coated in poison, inflicting lingering armour-ignoring damage on foes that are hit.
  • Poor in melee
    This unit is poor when fighting hand-to-hand. Try to keep it away from enemy formations.
