Javelin Spearmen

Do not be fooled by the length of those spears: they can still be thrown.

The versatility of the spear makes it a vital asset to any army, despite its relative simplicity. The same weapon can be used to throw, defend or attack in melee.

Even the bulkier two-handed spear can be thrown like a javelin, although the number of such weapons an individual warrior can carry is somewhat limited.

After their initial throw, these spearmen stand ready to lead a charge, or withstand one.

Unit Abilities

  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

Attributes

  • CHARGE REFLECTION VS. MOUNTED
    Reflects the charge damage of any mounted attacker back onto them when braced.
  • HIDE IN FOREST
    Can hide in forests.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Role: anti-cavalry
    These units are strong against flanking units such as cavalry, so are best used to protect vulnerable flanks.
  • Has ranged weapon
    This unit has a ranged weapon that can soften up enemies before engaging in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Weak against missile attacks
    This unit is unshielded and therefore has little defence against missile attacks.
